Sorry about the odd hours at the shop recently! Yesterday we closed early to take part in Occupy Portland. So amazing. Seeing thousands of people gathering together like that is always so inspiring, so uplifting. The rally was full of energy, music and chanting, and I didn’t see anyone getting harassed from the cops (from what I’ve heard, they’ve been treating the protesters fairly so far) and I left feeling positive and hopeful. The time for changes to the system in which we cater to the wealthy, the banks and the corporations is long overdue. I’m looking forward to heading back repeatedly over the next few days as the occupation progresses.
According to occupytogether.org, there have now been occupy together meetups in 930 cities. Amazing! Keep up the good work everyone who has been involved. Our voices are being heard.
